The story of Kutman Wine Museum

Kutman Wine Museum

Among the most striking exhibits here are singed joists, rescued from the old family residence that burned in 1928. The Kutman Wine Museum was founded in 2004 by Adnan and Cahit Kutman, third-generation executives of the Kutman Winery, one of the five wineries in the village of Mürefte in Şarköy, Tekirdağ. The privately held museum sits in a building next to the residence where the family lived from the early 1900s until 1976. Step inside and leaf through wine production records spanning the last eighty years, then look for the weighing scales from the Ottoman period.

A mechanical crusher, a mechanical destemming machine, a must pump and a bottle corking machine trace the journey from grape to wine. Wander among the big wooden barrels and the dusty wine bottles, and you can sense generations of one family's work.
